SCOTY stands for Scottish Comedian of the Year
but it's a wee bit artificial to say that because it's not completely inclusive of every comedian, nor every scottish comedian, nor only scottish comedians. I live here so I'm allowed but you have to have been living in Scotland 6 months or more, and enter. That's it. Some people choose to enter, some choose not to. SOme people slag the whole competition process saying it's a poor way to get the best comedy.
Me and most comedians I know are just glad to get the chance to perform, often in front of TV as well, so that adds an extra layer of stuff to learn etc and the whole thing is more ineresting. So we're just glad of the time on stage and are hapy to perform and hopefully give people a laugh. Haha.
The SCOTY though is run by Ha Ha Comedy, which is run and owned by Alan Anderson, an man who's name strikes fear into the hearts and minds of the readers on the Scotish Comedy Forum, but he's actually a very cool cat, I get on with him very well, so this blog, is not so much an earnest and cutting review of the SCOTY so much, as erm a biased blog.
I like the idea of a competition, that's why I went to the gong show down in Manchester. Loved it, great experience bombed, never doing speedos again I don't know what to say, I wanted to be able to tell my grand kids something before I died, that when I was alive, I really lived. And then pop a Werther's Original.
Ah I repeat myself.
Oh yes, was up Sauchiehall St the other night and met these two beauteous ladies promoting the Sea nightclub, yeah I know.
